Naturally there will be some pretty serious goblins and bosses that want nothing more than to stop you so they can make a good impression on their boss. Weapons and armors completely change how the twins move because of weight and stance making different builds feel very… well, different.Īs you make your way deeper and deeper into the underground searching for the professor you’ll find a lot of goblin prisoners that are on your side. You also get special attacks that depend on building up mana to charge them. It is a lot of fun switching back and forth between them utilizing their different strengths. For example I primarily play with Jenn and have her built to be fast and agile and Tristan is built to use heavy equipment like the ax and heavy shield. The twins start out with even stats but as you level up and increase stats you can build them differently. You have to balance your dodges and perries while attacking your enemies. The combat is tight and fun and feels great.

You can also find better equipment as you go, so break everything you can! You can also upgrade your equipment, but we’ll get to that in a bit. You get a weak and strong attack and you can parry with a well timed block with our shield. You start out with simple weapons, shields, and armor. You move along a 2.5 dimensional plane and beat up everything you come across. It is now up to you and all your teenage moxy to stop them and save your city.Īt it’s core, the gameplay in Young Souls is a beat ‘em up brawler. It turns out they have captured the professor and all goblins that want to co-exist peacefully with the surface dwelling humans. Soon enough, you meet your first goblin baddies and, as most baddies do when confronted with foul-mouthed teenage protagonists, they start to spill out their plans to take over the surface. Naturally as a rambunctious teen the first thing you do is head straight through that door, which leads to an underground world. The professor goes missing one day and you find that the forbidden door that was always locked is wide open. In all honesty, the game would probably be more fun if played with a second player, but that said I was very fun in single player and I wouldn’t let it detract you.Īnyway… You are one of the two foul-mouthed twins. Technically, if you play single player like I did, you play as both of them, but only one at a time and they switch out.
